Melissa McMorrow: ‘Sorry, Mom … destiny called’

May 8th, 2016

Her mother didn't think girls should participate in sports at all, but that plan didn't fly with Melissa McMorrow. She became an Division III All-America soccer star at Carnegie-Mellon University -- one of the nation's best academic schools -- then, entirely by chance, she became a boxer.

McMorrow did pretty well at that, too, beating Suzi Kentikian (29-0) for the WBO ad WIBF flyweight belts in 2012. She still holds the WBC crown four years later.

This lively conversation with "Mighty" Melissa is preceded by a postmortem of Canelo-Khan, and a look ahead to Canelo-Golovkin, by expert analysts Travis Hartman, Rizwaan Zahid and John J. Raspanti.
