The Canelo-Golovkin collision lived up to it’s substantial hype, diminished only by judge Adelaide Byrd’s weird scorecard, which awarded 10 of the 12 rounds to Canelo in a split-draw. Our expert analysts, Travis Hartman, Rizwaan Zahid and John J. Raspanti, dissect a scintillating fight, psychoanalyze Byrd’s strange affection for Canelo, and wonder aloud if there’s a better place for a rematch than Canelo-infatuated Las Vegas.

We also get another report from the UK from British correspondent Paul McLaughlin, and we have an in-depth conversation with West Coast boxing legend Randy Shields, who went to war with Sugar Ray Leonard, Thomas Hearns, Pipino Cuevas, Wilfredo Benitez, Pete Ranzany, Johnny Bumphus, and Milton McCrory during a renaissance era of the welterweight division. Shields, who will be inducted into the West Coast Boxing Hall of Fame, also worked as a celebrity bodyguard, an actor, and a Hollywood screenwriter.

Dennis Taylor is host of The Ringside Boxing Show, editor/publisher of www.ringsideboxingshow.com, and co-author (with John J. Raspanti) of “Intimate Warfare: The True Story of the Arturo Gatti and Micky Ward Boxing Trilogy,” currently on Amazon’s Bestsellers list.

World Boxing Hall of Fame inductee Robert Byrd was a U.S. Marine Corps boxing teammate of two other guys you've definitely heard of. He spent 34 years with the California Highway Patrol. He's been the third man in the ring in more than 100 world title bouts, and will do it again May 4 when he referees Mayweather-Guerrero.

We talked in-depth with this great veteran boxing official on the April 14, 2013 edition of The Ringside Boxing Show, a fun and fascinating conversation.
