Life as a prospect has it's challenges and rewards -- hopefully more of the latter -- but it's hard to imagine a training/management situation better than the one Paul Mendez and Darwin Price have with Garcia Boxing in Salinas, Calif.
Mendez, and up-and-coming middleweight, and Price, an undefeated light welterweight (and former All-America track star at Grambling State University) joined us on our Feb. 9, 2014 show to talk about brutal conditioning workouts, sparring with Golovkin and Maidana, who smells worse when they're rooming on the road, and more.
Be sure to check out this lively interview with two exciting young fighters with big plans.

Professional boxer Travis Hartman, our expert analyst, speaks with emotion about Russian heavyweight Mago Abdusalamov, who, on the day of our show, lay in a medically induced coma, recovering from a blood clot in his brain, apparently the result of Saturday night's brutal fight with Mike Perez on HBO. Was Mago's corner culpable for showing too much valor on behalf of a courageous fighter -- should his trainers, the doctor, or the ref stopped the fight?

Hartman also lauds the energetic and exciting (an exciting heavyweight?) performance of Perez, the Cuban defector now living in Ireland, he marvels at another overwhelming performance by Gennady Golovkin in his destruction of Curtis Stevens, and weighs in on the upcoming doubleheader featuring the Donaire-Darchinyan rematch and a battle of unbeatens, Vanes Martirosyan and Demetrius Andrade.

Kathy Garcia then joined us to talk about her rising star, middleweight Paul Mendez, and take the blame for a sluggish performance (resulting in a draw) the previous Monday on Fox Sports 1 against Louis Hope.

This is the first half of our Nov. 3, 2013, featuring an outstanding conversation with Spinks Brothers biographer John Florio after the commercial break.

The force of nature that is Gennady Golovkin was a big part of the conversation during the first half of our June 30, 2013 show, as John J. Raspanti sits in for Travis Hartman (still at Wimbledon) to bounce off expert analyst Rizwaan Zahid, "Irish" Joe O'Rourke, and Dennis Taylor.

Golovkin also is front and center in a chat with trainer Max Garcia, whose rising middlweight, Paul Mendez, was a Golovkin sparring partner.

This is the first half of our first "Rivals" show, which you'll hear after the midshow commercial break.

Expert analyst Rizwaan Zahid joined us to discuss Amir Khan's dominant performance against Carlos Molina, Nonito Donaire's claim to "Fighter of the Year" honors, Larry Merchant's legacy at HBO, and much more.

We spoke next to boxing trainer Sam Garcia about two exciting new fighters in the Garcia Boxing stable, Paul Mendez and Preston Freeman, and their performances the previous night in a Golden Boy Promotions/Don Chargin show in Salinas, California.

This is the first half of our Dec. 16, 2012 show featuring an amazing, in-depth conversation with Paul Spadafora after the commercial break.

Expert analysts Travis Hartman and Rizwaan Zahid break down Austin Trout's sensational performance against Miguel Cotto, Paulie Malignaggi's astute and articulate commentary as Showtime's guest analyst, and the speculate about what "Macho" Camacho might have thought about the catfight that disrupted his funeral.

Then super middleweight prospect Paul Mendez joins us to talk about his upcoming gig in the main event of the Dec. 15 Golden Boy Promotions/Don Chargin boxing event in Salinas, as well as how his life and career have changed since joining Garcia Boxing's stable.

This is the first half of our Dec. 2, 2012 show, featuring a colorful conversation with boxing historian Christopher James Shelton after the break.
