Ron Lyle, one of 19 kids, spent seven-and-a-half years in the Colorado State Penitentiary for second-degree murder after shooting a man as a teenager, but emerged from prison as one of the most-feared heavyweight fighters of his era. Lyle's five-round war with George Foreman, which featured two knockdowns apiece, is widely regarded as the most-explosive heavyweight fight of all time. A year earlier, he led Muhammad Ali on two out of three scorecards (the third was a draw) when he was TKO'd in the 11th round -- a stopping he still believes came too soon. Lyle also fought Oscar Bonavena, Buster Mathis, Jimmy Ellis, Jimmy Young, Jerry Quarry, Joe Bugner, Earnie Shavers, Vicente Rondon, Gregorio Peralta, and numerous other outstanding heavyweights during a renaissance era of the weight division.

Enjoy this in-depth conversation with a colorful and legendary figure in the history of the heavyweight division.
