Before Greg Haugen became a three-time world champion at lightweight and junior welterweight, he fought in Toughman competitions in the saloons of Alaska, where the winner's share was $50.

 As a pro, Haugen fought Pernell Whitaker, Julio Cesar Chavez, Hector "Macho" Camacho, Vinny Pazienza, Tony "The Tiger" Lopez and Jimmy Paul, to mention only a few.
